L'Eixample: The district of L'Eixample is comprised of 3 neighborhoods: Ruzafa, El Pla del Remei, and Gran Vía. The most famous and popular is Ruzafa (also spelled Russafa), characterized by its ethnically diverse and cultured atmosphere; it is a place to go for authentic international cuisine (including a location of the Taste of America chain of American food stores). Russafa is a great neighborhood for students as well and due to its vibrant flavor and proximity to the center of the city, it is becoming a target area for cool local small businesses. While L'Eixample lacks the genius of Antoni Gaudí, there are still plenty of elegant Modernist-style buildings throughout the neighborhood. You'll often find groups of friends meeting on the Plaça de Canovas, which is right next to the famous Edificio Chapo, to go out for the night. This is also the epicenter for Les Falles festival at the end of March, when the city turns into a hotbed destination for travelers worldwide.
