Surrounded by picturesque countryside this is the perfect base for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. Situated just 6 miles south of Ashbourne which is rich with character offering original cobbled lanes, old market stalls and Georgian buildings. It is also home to a good selection of restaurants, shops and traditional coaching inns. A little further north is the market town of Bakewell and the glorious Chatsworth House and Gardens. The National Trust Calke Abbey, Osmaston Park Estate, and the beautiful Foremark Reservoir are only a short drive away. Dovedale the Manifold Valley and Tissington, offer great cycling and walking opportunities. For children there are lots of attractions less than an hour from the cottage, Alton Towers including Water Park, Matlock Bath with Gulliver’s Kingdom and The Heights of Abraham with cable cars & caves, Derby Museum & Art Gallery, Crich Tramway Museum, Swadlincote Snow-sports Centre, Peak Wildlife Park at Leek and Twycross Zoo.
