It’s important to note that returning to the house’s dock can be challenging with tidal water and shallow depths, so relying on the public launch ensures a smoother experience.
If you decide to explore Chincoteague/Newport Bay, keep in mind that the outer edges of the creek's turns tend to offer deeper water. Visualize the way water naturally carves a path during tides – this can help you identify and avoid shallow areas. The bay is more shallow in some places than you might expect.
